Hey Everyone!!!
Here is my contribution to the quest for the perfect symmetrical eyeliner which is something everyone who loves makeup strives for!
In the video I am using my Ben Nye Cake Liner and The Daler Rowney System 3 Round No. 0 Paint Brush & Mac's #266 Angled Eyeliner Brush. The paint brush is my favourite but I have several which I love and use often.
They are, from right to left, and from top to bottom, Sigma SS209, Sigma SS266, 0 Marks Sablon 279, Daler Rowney Dalon 277 #00, The Daler Rowney System 3 Round N.01 Paint Brush, Mac's #266 Angled Eyeliner Brush, The Daler Rowney System 3 Round No. 0 Paint Brush, Mac's #209 Eyeliner Brush, Mac's #210 Eyeliner Brush.
I have a couple others that I don't really like or use. I will be making a video showing my favourite eyeliner brushes soon, adding to my makeup brushes video series!

ReplyDeleteWhat eyeliner do you use - for both liquid & gel? I have dozens of drugstore (gel & liquid) liners. So far Wet 'n Wild is by far the best but gel liners dry out very fast and then drag on the eye leaving a grey uneven line. Liquid liner goes on really dark and smoothly but then if I go over the line to extend or thicken it, the 2nd application removes the first layer of liquid liner leaving it grey looking again - sometimes even removing some of the eyeshadow underneath.
I'm ready to get a high-end eye liner but I'm not sure which one to get because I have heard conflicting reviews. I'm trying to decide between Bobbi Brown, Clinique and MAC.
Your liner is black, black and the shape is just what I aim for but fail miserably to get.
Also how do you deal with mistakes?

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment:) I mostly use gel, my favourite is Mac's "Blacktrack" Fluidline and Bobbi Brown's Gel liners, and I also quite like ELF's cream liner as it's nice & soft for a cream. I really like Cake Liners, I have the Ben Nye one but Aqua Cake's work great also, but they will smudge the easiest. Rimmel's Professional Liquid Liner is really nice and quite inexpensive too!
Deciding between the 3 gel liners you mentioned should simply come down to which is the cheapest!
When it comes to mistakes I use either a dry cotton swab or a baby wipe, depending on the situation. Hope this helps!

I have questions about the paint brushes that you use... I've recently started going into art supply stores to look around and have started thinking so much of things there can be modified to used for makeup application/techniques! Like painting knifes and artist palette. I'm sure this is sounding very rudimentary to you. So to my questions, how do you select the paint brushes? What fibers should I be looking for?

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! I love wandering about my craft store looking out for things I can use in my makeup work! I'm primarily an artist so have always used these tools and am lucky r=to be familiar with most, Like for instance you'll find great brush cleaners etc in these stores. The most important thing to remember when it comes to brush fibres is that Natural bristles suit powder products best and synthetic fibres suit wet or cream products as they will not absorb as much of the product as the natural hairs!
