'Cicaplast Mains' sent as press sample. |
My poor hands suffer so much over the colder winter months, and constantly sanitising them in work with an alcohol gel doesn't help matters much either. My wise mother is blue in the face telling me to use a hand cream since I was a teenager but would I listen???.... Not at all!
I have always hated the feel of cream on my hands, I can't touch anything with sticky hands and fingers.... it just annoys the heck out of me. (I'm clearly easily annoyed!)
But having sore, cracked skin also annoys the heck out of me. So about a year ago I started to use hand creams, or more accurately, face creams on my hands. It was like I suddenly had a new pair of hands! Until they looked soft and healthy again, I didn't realise how ugly my dry, cracked, red hands had looked. So I got over my stupid annoyance and became a convert.
Anyhu's, getting to the point..... I now have a hand cream that I use religiously, that lives beside my bed and is used every night and sporadically throughout the daytime when needed.
I have been using La Roche-Posay's 'Cicaplast Mains' (which I just call Cicaplast hands) since November last year and it has further improved the condition of my hands' skin a lot! Before I was sent this hand cream though I had actually been using the regular Cicaplast Balm B5 as my hand cream which also works really well.
It is a soothing, reparative barrier cream which contains La Roche-Posay's Thermal Spring Water and as usual to the brand, is paraben & fragrance free.
The thick transparant cream creates a protective barrier when applied but it doesn't take forever to absorb into the skin. It does feel a bit sticky for a few minutes but this goes away in no time and you are left with super-soft, soothed hands.
As ye can see from the ingredients below the list is short, which always impresses me about the LRP products. It doesn't contain a million & one unnecessary and mind boggling ingredients.
What it does contain is;
1. Glycerine;
this is a humectant, absorbing water-based materials into its structure. This also strengthens the protective barrier.
2. Niacinamide;
This is known to enhance the skin's natural barrier function, improves elasticity and tone. And it also helps heal and prevent any inflammation or sore cracks.
3. Shea Butter;
This is an emollient rich in anti-oxidants that moisturises. It is also very soothing on dry or painful skin.

If you are in the market for a new hand cream, I highly recommend this fella. It does what it says it will, and the condition of my hands has continued to improve with it's use! I'll be hand modeling in no time :P
If you haven't tried the Cicaplast range of products, you should!
'Cicaplast Mains' is available from all usual stockists and costs RRP €7.50 for the 50ml tube.

Til next post,
