Illamasqua Lipsticks.

'Eurydice', 'Box' & 'Apocalips' Lipsticks.
A few months ago I placed my very first Illamasqua online order  after finally receiving my professional discount (Finally because I had been procrastinating on applying for it!) and at the time they were offering a further 10% on top of any already existing discount so how could I not have!
Among a few other things, including the much hyped Skin Base Foundation, I picked up 3 of their lippies which again at the time were on a 3 for 2 deal! It was my lucky day!! Ha ha.
The 3 shades I chose were;

 'Eurydice'; a bright matte cool fushia pink,
'Box'; a true blue-based blood red with a satin-y matte finish,
 'Apocalips'; a truly unique yet striking and arguably not-so-wearable matte teal shade.

They cost £16.50 each online from the Illamasqua website  as well as from the stand-alone store off Carnaby Street in London, Charles Fox Professional & Illamasqua counters in the UK. This definitely brings it into the 'high end' level price-wise but not overly expensive compared to other 'high end' branded lipsticks.  Saying that though, I was still glad of my pro-discount and the 3 for 2 offer that I was able to avail of at the time of purchase. Definitely sign up to receive the e-mail newsletter through the Illamasqua website to be notified of any upcoming special offers etc!!!

'Eurydice' & 'Apocalips' are the more matte of the three, with 'Box' being slightly more creamy even though it's described as matte on the website. I would consider it to have more of a satin finish.
All three are quite pigmented but 'Eurydice' & 'Apocalips' are quite waxy in texture compared to MAC matte lipsticks for example. They are a little dry upon application (not as dry as MACs Ruby Woo though) but they don't feel particularly drying on the lips once applied. Several layers of the teal  'Apocalips' shade was needed to achieve an opaque covering.  I do find that a lip brush is necessary for optimum application and to get a crisp finish to the outline if not using a lipliner.
'Box' is the nicer formula of the three; creamy without being slippy or greasy and offers superb colour pay-off. It's the perfect deep vamp red shade that is blue based which means your teeth will not appear to have that yellow cast.

Ingredients.

All three are lovely lipsticks that last a long time on the lips without the absolute need for a primer or lipliner underneath and the colour selection on the website is quite decent also with a balanced mixture of brights, dark shades, neutrals and nudes. The sleek black packaging gives the product a luxurious feel and even the paper box they come in is attractive.

Just to offer a few dupes for each of the shades I own from left to right;

To the left of 'Eurydice' is MACs 'Show Orchid' (Pro) and above is MACs Prolongwear Lipstick 'Forever Love',
Above 'Box' is MACs 'Russian Red' Lipstick.
To the right of 'Apocalips' is Sleek Makeups 'Eau la la' water proof liner in 'Tonic'

What's yeer favourite Illamasqua lipsticks??

  1. BEAUTIFUL! I love the pink and red one. You look so lovely. I would never have the guts to wear the blue one, but it looks good on you.
    I have never tried Illamasqua lipsticks. Maybe I should give them a try. <3

  2. I have Box and I love it! I never even used to wear red lipstick much before I got it, but it won me over. Even though they have beautiful colours unfortunately I find Illamasqua's lipsticks to be just too drying on my lips. I've tried priming them beforehand in every way imaginable and nothing quite works for me so the few shades that I have don't get much love.Shame

    1. That is a shame! I suppose you could mix a little lip conditioner in with them on the back of your hand first!? xx

  5. Hi Siobhan

    I'm looking into applying for professional discount too - but am a little confused if I qualify. I'm not represented by an agency but have tear sheets from magazines featuring my work. I don't have a show reel but would my portfolio on my website apply?

    Would really appreciate your advice :)

    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Samantha, don't worry I had none of those either! I showed my certificate from years ago when I did a course and also a letter from the company I work with now and that was fine. x
